Charles and Robbie Butler opened their restaurant in 2005 after Charles' homemade sauce had been in high demand from family and friends. While the joint is new, the pedigree is time-tested. Robbie is a niece of Jim Neely, founder of the renown Interstate in Memphis, Tenn., and patriarch of the cooking Neely clan of Food Network fame.

Lil' Mickey's is a real gem, and where I immediately think of going if I don't have the time to smoke my own ribs, pork shoulder etc. They do things right here, and the results show that: Every meat I've had here has been fantastic, but I'll talk up just a few. The ribs, pulled pork, and brisket are all incredibly delicious, tender and smoky and flavorful-I want to leave right now and go get some just thinking about them! I'm talking mouth watering good, the ribs are about perfect, with a nicely spiced bark, and meat that is toothsome, coming away from the bone with a gentle bite, yielding a mouthful of meltingly tender BBQ nirvana. This is close your eyes and say "mmmm" BBQ. The portions are generous, and the people who run it first class and super nice. Their beans are also excellent with chunks of bbq in them, always a nice touch. Hot links are tasty too; chicken and turkey good as well, but I haven't had them much because those three--ribs, pulled pork, and brisket are soooo good, and will take you to BBQ heaven. I've eaten at a number of highly rated BBQ joints in Memphis (Corky's, Rendezvous, and Interstate) and I'll put Lil' Mickeys with any of them.

This is a great bbq joint with even better food. I ordered the sampler which can easily be shared with 2 or more people. The spare ribs were great a nice dry rub with a sweet sauce on it.(you can get the ribs wet or dry) The pulled pork was amazing and the chopped brisket was smokey and moist. The hot links are spicy and delicious but they don't make them there. The chicken was dry but had a nice flavor and crust on the outside. Note: don't plan on eating inside there is only room for 6 people to eat at the tables, take it to go. If im in the area again im going back.
