Landmark Plaza Frontenac

Jack Black stars as a small-town East Texas assistant funeral director who does all the right things except one in this entertaining film. A popular community leader, Bernie's frustration toward an elderly benefactor - played by Shirley McClain - ends with her demise. But Bernie proves to be more successful at the funeral business than murder, and is soon brought to trial by the local sheriff, played in a slightly offbeat manner by Matthew McGonahey. The reaction of the local townspeople and subsequent trial of Bernie, and the strong performances throughout, make this an entertaining comedy/drama.
