Most fun ever

My husband took me to see Nursery Crimes at the Bissell Mansion this past Saturday for my birthday. We loved it! My husband had a speaking part in the show and he was a little nervous, but the actors were great with him, as well as, all the other guests that had parts. It was hilarious. The meal was really good, too. We both had the fish and I recommend it. I can't wait to go back again.

Pitiful, but...EXPENSIVE, too!

We paid a lot of money for cold food that was mediocre in quality, bad acting and a poorly written "play" if they call it that.
The mansion is in deplorable condition and so are the grounds. The bathrooms were filthy.
Save your money and do something twice as fun for half as much money!

Oldest House in St. Louis

Bissell Mansion is the oldest house in St. Louis! It does need a little repairs but what old home does not. It is a fun time!

Always GREAT

I have been to Bissell I think this would be my 6th time. I have never had a bad experience there. I first went with a group and loved it. So I took my boyfriend back and now we try and go every new show. The actors and the wait staff are GREAT. ced may just have been having a bad day. I usually eat the chicken parm and it is not microwaved. The cheese is so melted and the breading on the chicken is wonderful. You have to try this bread that they put out with the apps. The bread and cheese that serve is made there, and the cheese that goes with the bread fantantisic. On the Bissell's website it says the house was built, I think, in the late 1890's. It is very old building and from my understanding you cannot just move building to a new part of town. I would not keep going back to the bissell if it was bad! My next reservations are set up or my birthday, May 28, and I am going with a group of firends!!

Waste of money

I took my boyfriend to Bissell Mansion’s murder mystery show in April 2010 as a birthday celebration, and we were sadly disappointed. I feel like I was scammed out of my $105. Even if you overlook the fact that the “mansion” is located in a scary part of town, the building itself has seen better days and is sorely in need of landscaping. At dinner we were seated at a long table in such close proximity to other couples that it was almost comical. (Literally arms & legs touching each other.) The entire poorly scripted “play” consisted of TWO actors playing THREE roles, mixed in with audience members reading their lines as needed. All of this was played out in a small, drafty, dining room area with hideous wall paper and bad artwork. The appetizers were decent, but the four course meal consisted of bagged salad, dry bread, chicken parmesan that probably came out of a microwave, and instant chocolate mousse. Honestly the whole thing was so pathetic that I actually felt bad for this poor kid that actually proposed to his girlfriend during the show. The only redeeming quality of the entire Bissell experience was that the wait staff were all very friendly, and the two actors were very good at improv and joking with the audience. Definitely save your money and do something else, and if you go anyway – don’t say you weren’t warned!

Awesome time!

I brought my wife here for our anniversary and we had a great time. We even took parts in the show and had lines to say, what a blast. The staff was great and the food was really great too. I was trying to find something different to do for our special occasion & this was a great way to celebrate!
