Over/Under Bar & Grill

911 Washington Ave., St Louis, MO, 63101
(314) 621-8881 - Venue Website

Welcome to the Over/Under Bar & Grill, located in the heart of the vibrant Loft District on Washington Avenue in St. Louis.

The name Over/Under refers to a wager on the total amount of points, runs or goals scored by both teams in a game. The beauty of the Over/Under bet is that it gives meaning to the otherwise meaningless free-throws shot by pine-warmers when the game is out of reach, the late touchdown pass thrown in a blowout by the journeyman backup QB, or the empty net goal just before the horn sounds. Likewise, it's more than just about wining and losing at the Over/Under-it's about the spread, the juice and having a great time with friends, coworkers and clients.

The Over/Under Bar & Grill is the place to watch all the games and enjoy after-work cocktails surrounded by 37 large LCD TVs. Not to mention you can relax on our outdoor patio while watching a summer Cards game on our massive 120-inch projector screen, have dinner while keeping an eye on the college hoops actions, or follow your picks during a football weekend. All of this can be had at the Over/Under Bar & Grill -- and we help bring out the inner gambler in all of us with our nightly and weekly contests on all of the sports of the seasons.

Centrally located to the big three sporting venues in the Lou, the Over/Under is the spot to be before, during and after all Cardinals, Rams and Blues games. It may even be better than being at the game! And beyond watching sports, our spacious outdoor patio is the best place in town to sit back and enjoy the nice weather with a drink while enjoying the nightlife along WashAve.

We're sure that you -- the residents, workers, visitors and fans of St. Louis -- will enjoy the atmosphere of our unique bar and grill and we anticipate sharing many days and nights of great sports and good times. And remember, as many a sports gambler has said: "You're always in it with the over."

Downtown spot shows plenty of promise

I'm excited any time a new restaurant opens in my neighborhood, so I couldn't wait to check out Over/Under Bar & Grill. It's only been open a little more than a week, so I'll forgive some weaknesses, because the place shows lots of potential.

It was a beautiful day, so we ate on the patio, a quaint space bounded by bushes and mostly hidden from bustling Washington Avenue.

The interior is beautiful, rehabbed similarly to other downtown eateries -- modern design blended with the rawness of the city. And there are lots of TVs, including two in each booth. Sports fans, rejoice.

From the "small plates" (appetizer) menu, we selected the mac and cheese ($6), topped with breadcrumbs, and were underwhelmed. We were expecting something casserole-like with a lot of cheese and cheese flavor.

I had the Over/Under burger, which was delicious. The meat was deliciously seasoned and reminded me a little of meatloaf.

The house fries are seasoned waffle-cut fries -- my favorite.

My friend ordered the chicken BLT, which seems to be a misnomer. It's a large piece of chicken with two pieces of bacon. My friend's arrived sans the L and T. I'd consider it a chicken club -- not a BLT.

Prices are on the high end but still are affordable. We'll definitely be back, especially for happy hour (Monday-Friday, 3-6:30 p.m.).
