As a person who likes to eat her own BBQ cooked on her own grill, my husband talked me into eating here one day & I feel that I'm a changed person forever. I'm not generally a ribs fan, but I found myself staring down at a plate of bones in a short time after just "tasting" the ribs. It's probably their most popular item on the menu which means they run out a lot, but on such occasion, do try their turkey or pork. Both are equally delicious.
The owners (who have been present every time I've been there) are very personable & friendly. Great staff & fast service. A true gem of a restaurant in the city.
There are not many things in this world in which I will stand in line more than a half hour for. Pappy's is one of the few. We arrived at 11:15 on a Friday morning. The line wound through the restaurant and down the hall.
But it is worth every minute. A succulent turkey sandwich with 2 incredible sides like vinegar slaw, sweet potato fries, and fried corn cobs or pulled pork from happy pigs. Fast, friendly service.
I'm sure everyone knows pappys is real good bbq. I've been there twice and the ribs are some of the best i've had. The pulled pork was great and the sliced brisket was ok. The sauce was good but it had a real strong high fructose corn syrup taste which im not a big fan of. Over all it's a great place for bbq but everyone knows that.
Pappy's has it all, great service, fantastic ribs, nice and tender pulled pork, and an iconic pig to gaze at while you're "wolfing" your food down. Best ribs in STL.

The main Pappy's sauce is tangy and just less than ketchupy in the thickness of its consistency — it was my favorite among three sauces, although both the not-overly-sweet sweet sauce and the midfire spicy sauce were just fine.
