Lyle Lovett returns to the scene with his latest project, “Release Me,” which mixes originals with covers such as “Brown Eyed Handsome Man,” “White Freightliner Blues” and the title track. Asked why he didn’t just record all original tunes, Lovett told the Los Angeles Times, “The reason I didn’t have more originals is that I haven’t written enough of my own songs that I like enough.
