Shy of the unlikely reunion of Uncle Tupelo’s Jay Farrar and Jeff Tweedy, the songwriting tandem most of the alternative-country universe was hoping to see come back together was the Jayhawks’ Mark Olson and Gary Louris. After a pair of ’90’s classics, “Hollywood Town Hall” and “Tomorrow the Green Grass,” Olson left the group. Louris carried on until 2004, but it was never the same. In recent years, the pair toured together, finally releasing an album of new material — the understated yet beautiful “Ready for the Flood” — this year. Welcome back, guys. (Daniel Durchholz)
