Lori Petty

Director, writer, actor and painter, Lori Petty is best known as a movie star, but that was an accident. Okay, not an accident, but a great job that left time to paint, take pictures, travel around the world, become a cartoon superhero and write her first film, “The Poker House.”


“The Poker House” is Lori’s directorial film debut, based on her original story. She co-wrote the script and co-produced the film with longtime friend David Alan Grier.

An accomplished writer and producer, Lori wrote, produced and starred in her own sitcom for Fox TV in 1997, “Lush Life”, a critical hit and personal favorite. She also starred with Michelle Williams in the Off-Broadway smash “Killer Joe” at the SoHo Playhouse in New York City in 1999.


Also a longtime Venice, California painter, Lori’s most recent solo art exhibition was a big hit at the Deborah Page Gallery in Santa Monica, California during the entire month of March 2008. Other shows include two at Gallery C in Hermosa Beach, a group show at Bergamont Station in LA, and the Red House Gallery in Venice. In celebration of the new century, Lori enjoyed a one-woman show of her paintings at the famous Venice restaurant 72 Market Street from December 1999 through March 2000. Lori’s paintings have also been featured on the Venice ArtWalk, which raises funds for the largest free clinic in the country, the Venice Family Clinic.
