Sydney Pollack

Studied acting from 1953 to '54 at New York City's famed Neighborhood Playhouse with legendary teacher Sanford Meisner, and then taught there himself from 1954 to '59. Once studied dance with Martha Graham. Directed more than 80 TV episodes, including Ben Casey, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Fugitive and The Defenders . Played the role of Dustin Hoffman's agent in Tootsie (1982) at the urging of the star.
