The Del McCoury Band

Singer/guitarist Del McCoury has managed to take an old-school approach to bluegrass and give it a vitality and contemporary relevance few of his peers can match. He got his start playing with Bill Monroe in the early '60s, but by the end of the decade he began leading his own band. By the '90s, McCoury (whose band by that time included his sons Rob and Ronnie) crossed over to find favor with rock audiences while never wavering from his roots-conscious approach. ~ Rovi
