Soon after moving into a suburban tract home, Katie (Katie Featherston) and Micah (Micah Sloat) become increasingly disturbed by what appears to be a supernatural presence. Hoping to capture evidence of the haunting on film, Katie and Micah set up video cameras in their home, but they are not prepared for the terrifying occurrences which follow.

Does not deliver at all... Build up for the let down.
I heard about this movie, the best of the year, the scariest, you won't be able to sleep for weeks... not so much.
My wife is really easy to scare... she was snoring.
Both of us slept like babies that night. It blows chunks!!!!!!!

Must See: Paranormal Activity
Paranormal Activity is an excellent movie if you feel like not sleeping for a week. At first I didn’t see what the big deal was because every woman I've known has acted like she has had a demon in her once in a while. Like past movies that have used the Blair Witch template, there is a lot of down time where you are just waiting to see what all the fuss is about. This is what gives the realistic feel that most "Saw" fans cannot wait through, constantly needing to see various body parts exploding. For me this not only made the movie scary, but also gave moments of comedic relief from the constant bickering of the young couple. I know I am getting old though because the scariest part for me was that the husband’s job was a day stock trader in 2006 before the market crashed. This film's main appeal is the fun you have watching it in a packed theater so you can hear how the audience reacts to the various ghost encounters. You are going to either love or hate Paranormal Activity depending on whether you buy into the elusive demon or not. Either way it is worth seeing just for the water-cooler conversations you'll have while you lie about not jumping, making it a Must See.

I was one of many who was waiting to see the highly talked about buzz encircled Paranormal Activity. And I was not alone, the theatre was nearly sold out when the film began. Now, I had heard many things about the film and being one of the many people who saw The Blair Witch project on opening weekend, was prepared to be a bit disappointed. However, I was pleasantly surprised. Unlike The Blair Witch, this film's characters and setting bring a whole new level of fear and familiarity. A young couple, alone in their house being plagued by something unseen was far more powerful than those lost in the woods. But this is not just some Blair Witch rip off. Quite to the contrary, this film takes the most primitive fears of the dark and the monsters that haunt our dreams and forces us to face them again. Now I am an adult male of almost 30 and though I was not jumping and screaming, the rest of the theatre was. Each time night came and the couple would go to sleep, there was a theatre wide grown of fear and apprehension. Followed by screams and cries from not just the women. A six foot four gentleman beside me screamed like a child at one point. The same was said of the group sigh of relief each time daylight was seen. There is something to be said of a film that can take a room full of hundreds of strangers and turn them into one unified audience that does just watch a movie, but shares not only their time but their emotional journey. I myself did not know how deeply the film had effected me until after it was over and I was talking about it with a friend and found tears leaking from my eyes. And that sums up my review of the film. This was not a Friday the 13th or Saw or some cliche shock and gore throw away, Paranormal Activity is an engrossing experience where subtlety and the unknown creates a deeper fear. A fear meant to be shared with others and one that stays with you after the film is done and you find yourself ready for bed. I recommend this to anyone who wants to "feel" a movie that will scare you on more than one level. A must see in the theatre.

Don't bother. The film industry can't make a good film if they spend 100 million bucks so how can anyone expect better from one made for less than most film makers spend for a week of catering the shoot? Go rent a DVD..."Running Scared...Through the Looking Glass" is quite entertaining.
