Donatelli’s Bistro

Last night our party went to Donatelli's. The night started off quite well, the waiter was excellent, the food good. We received our menus and one of our party mentioned the new menus and the new lower prices. After we ordered, the portions seemed smaller, which was nice and with the new lower prices seemed to be a good change. Until the bills came. The prices in the menu didn't match the prices on the bills, in fact they were pretty much double. When brought to the attention of the waiter, he apologized and the manager(Bev, the owners wife, came in). She pretty much called the person who brought it up a liar, even after we showed the menu we had seen. She said "Oh that's the lunch menu" and that we received the larger, "dinner" portions. She pointed out a very small white label on the inside front cover, that distinguished it from a dinner menu.. She was there, never once apologized, and after about 4-5 minutes sh just left, then in came the Owner, Don Baker, this guy comes in, no apology, nothing, just goes on the attack, called all of us cheapskates and, get this he actually said "YOU PEOPLE are just looking for a free meal". No one was looking for a free meal and probably not even for the lower price, just an admission that a mistake had been made and some sort of apology. By now the Owner, loud and outright accusative, told our party to just leave and "Don't come back". Nearly screaming he told us that he had been running Donatelli's since 1979 and the this is the way he always treats customers. When one of our party called him a jerk, he told him that he was lucky he was an old man... He continued to argue for another 30 minutes, berating everyone in our party, he looked at me and said I must agree with him as I hadn't said much, I simply replied that he wasn't worth arguing with and walked out, BTW I did pay all of my bill. If this sounds to incredible to be true, or maybe that its just sour grapes, read other reviews, and listen to a YouTube recording of a phone message he left. If you enjoy good service, descent food and being abused by an obnoxious, belligerent a-hole, then by all means go. You might enjoy the bait and switch menus, designed to get you to purchase the more expensive menu items.

For me, I'll NEVER, ever go back, and neither should you

We enjoyed our dinner there and the service was great! Wow! The food is definitely something we will go back for, it was terrific.
