Hawthorne Players present August Wilson's "Fences"

Friday, Nov 2, 2012 8:00p

"Fences" explores the evolving African-American experience and examines family interactions and responsibilities against a backdrop of changing race relations.Troy Maxson, the grandson of a slave and the son of a sharecropper, has moved north in search of a better life, only to find an environment still fencing him in. When the play opens in the fall of 1957, he is a middle-aged, illiterate garbage collector, tinged with the heroic and poetic. Veteran performer Archie Coleman portrays Maxson.
