The Apostle Paul is perhaps one of the most controversial figures of the New Testament. He has been deemed both “appealing” and “appalling.” To understand him we must understand how his cultural and societal environment impacted his newly found Christian faith and mission to the Gentiles. This course will explore the world behind Paul’s authentic letters in an attempt to understand what he has to say to us today. Suggested book: “The First Paul” by Borg and Crossan. This course is sponsored by Lutheran School of Theology in St. Louis.
The teacher is Pr. Blake Duncan, Dean of Education for Synodically Authorized Ministers of the CSIS-ELCA.
