This course will explore a contemporary Jewish understanding of the New Testament by considering the development of important concepts such as “Messiah,” “life after physical death,” and “reward and punishment,” as viewed in Judaism. It will trace their impact on what would become Christianity and it will also examine the Jewish content and context of the teachings of Jesus and the world in which he lived.
The instructor is Dr. Howard G. Kaplansky, Adjunct Professor, Eden Seminary; Rabbi Emeritus of United Hebrew Congregation; President of the American Jewish Committee, St. Louis Region.
Sponsored by Lutheran School of Theology in St. Louis.
